Egeria

Egeria is the deceased former Hydro Archon in Genshin Impact, who perished during the cataclysm 500 years ago. She was not born naturally, but was a primordial water spirit created by the Primordial Shade of Life. She was given the responsibility of managing the purest water element, 'nectar,' to suppress the water element of the primordial dragons and transform it into an environment suitable for humans. Considered the first mother figure of the Fontaine human race, she is closely related to all water spirits, including Focalors and Oceanids. Egeria was compassionate, sympathizing not only with humans but also with the defeated dragons. Legend says she used the power of the Primordial Sea to transform some Oceanids into humans out of compassion for their desire to live on the surface like humans. This act was considered the 'original sin' by Celestia, leading to her imprisonment. While imprisoned, she revealed to Remus, who later conquered Fontaine, that she had committed an unforgivable sin and was cursed. Despite this, she is revered by the people of Fontaine and commemorated as the founder of the nation. Her consciousness was preserved by the Greater Lord Rukkhadevata after her death, and it is sealed within the Amrita Pool in Sumeru.
