Mary-Ann

Mary-Ann is a unique character in Genshin Impact, a being whose existence is a fusion of human and Oceanid consciousness. Originally, she was Mary-Ann Guillotin, an orphan of the Narzissenkreuz Institute, who grew up with her brother Alain. At the institute, she befriended Lyris, an Oceanid who was the director. About 500 years ago, during the Cataclysm in Fontaine, Mary-Ann joined the Marechaussee Hunters and was severely injured in battle. To save her, Lyris absorbed Mary-Ann's consciousness, merging to become the new Oceanid Mary-Ann. This new Mary-Ann is neither Lyris nor Mary-Ann Guillotin, but a combination of their consciousness and desires. She now resides in Annapausis, where she created a fairy-tale world and is writing a story about Princess Lyris and the evil dragon Narcissus. Mary-Ann also gained the ability to create other Oceanids. Some theories suggest Mary-Ann could be connected to the Fatui Harbinger Sandrone or that she may be a disguise for a more powerful being.
