Mary-Ann Guillotin is a complex and intriguing character in Genshin Impact. Originally an orphan at the Narzissenkreuz Institute in Fontaine, she was raised alongside her brother Alain by the former Marechaussee Hunter, Emanuel Guillotin. At the institute, she became friends with Jakob Baker (later Ingold) and Rene de Petrichor. She and Alain later became Marechaussee Hunters, with Alain creating the prototype machine "Seymour" to protect her. During a confrontation with the Narzissenkreuz Ordo, Mary-Ann was critically injured and absorbed by the Oceanid Lyris, resulting in the birth of a new Oceanid also named "Mary-Ann". This new entity embodies both Lyris' and Guillotin's consciousness and desires, and has the ability to create other Oceanids. She created a fairytale home for herself in the Annapausis and created another Oceanid named "Ann". Ultimately, she accepts her past and embarks on a journey with Ann and the rescued Rene. Mary-Ann's story is one of tragedy and redemption, showcasing her transformation from human to Oceanid, and her eventual acceptance of herself and her destiny.
