Rene de Petrichor

Rene de Petrichor, formerly the son of the mayor of Poisson, is a complex figure of significant importance in the story of Genshin Impact. He is not only the founder of the Narzissenkreuz Ordo, but also a scientist who profoundly influenced the history of Fontaine. Rene experienced a tragedy in his childhood during the siege of Poisson, where his parents were killed, leading him and his friend Jakob to be placed in the Narzissenkreuz Institute. During his time at the orphanage, he befriended Mary-Ann and Alain. Later, Rene and Jakob embarked on an expedition to Sumeru, where he developed a strong interest in the local Khvarena and the Sacred Lotus. Upon returning to Fontaine, he joined the Institute of Natural Philosophy and collaborated with Alain on researching Pneuma and Ousia energy. However, Rene eventually took a different path, using his research to found the Narzissenkreuz Ordo, attempting to create 'Neohumans' to combat the doomsday he foresaw. Although his intentions were to save the world, his actions were ultimately deemed illegal and opposed by his former friend, Alain. Rene's story is filled with tragedy, portraying him as both a genius scientist and a tragic hero who was willing to do anything to save the world.
