Kichiboushi is an open-world NPC in Genshin Impact, first appearing in the World Quest "Tanuki-Bayashi in the Forest." Afterwards, he can be found on Ioroi's head but cannot be interacted with. According to Ioroi, Kichiboushi will be his successor as "Hidden Protector of the Grove." In the event "Eight Locales Over Mountains and Seas," the Traveler and Paimon assist in his training. Kichiboushi is a bake-danuki who gave Ioroi company and was sealed alongside many of his kin by Kamuna Harunosuke. However, he was not completely sealed and escaped. During the cleansing of the Sacred Sakura, Kichiboushi guides the Traveler and Paimon to the corrupted Sakura roots beneath Chinju Forest. Later, when the Traveler and Paimon visit Ioroi on a whim, he decides to have Kichiboushi accompany them outside of Inazuma to play and train. To understand Kichiboushi's language, Ioroi provides a bake-danuki feast. The training mainly involves taking Kichiboushi to various locations across Mondstadt and Liyue. After the trip, Kichiboushi returns to Chinju Forest, promising to remember what the Traveler and Paimon taught him. Kichiboushi is a lighter-colored variant of the typical bake-danuki, with a reddish-orange leaf on his head and a green patterned cape around his neck.
