Psychic Academy (サイキックアカデミー煌羅万象, Saikikku Akademī Ōra Banshō) is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Katsu Aki. It was serialized in Kodansha's Monthly Z magazine from August 1999 to March 2003. An original net animation (ONA) adaptation was produced by E.G. Films in 2002. Both the manga and anime have been licensed for North American distribution by Tokyopop. The story follows Ai Shiomi, a boy with psychic powers known as "aura power" in modern-day Japan. This ability has emerged in the world, but not everyone possesses it. Aura power allows certain elements such as fire, water, ice, wind, lightning, earth, and light to be used by those with the ability. Ai agrees to attend the Psychic Academy after being pressured by his brother. The school is where elite students go to learn how to use their elemental aura power. He discovers his childhood friend Orina at school, known as Sahra by her aura code. On his way to school, Ai meets Myuu, another quiet student. Ai learns his brother Zero, a legend, will also be one of his teachers. As Ai struggles with his new school life, he develops contrasting feelings for Orina and Myuu while making discoveries about his rare light aura. A group of researchers try to artificially awaken the dormant aura genes within all humans, posing danger to society. The manga has 11 volumes and the anime has 24 episodes of 10 minutes each.
