Martian Successor Nadesico

Martian Successor Nadesico (Japanese: 機動戦艦ナデシコ, Kidō Senkan Nadeshiko, lit. "Mobile Battleship Nadesico") is a Japanese science fiction comedy anime television series produced by XEBEC. The series, which aired in 1996 with 26 episodes, is set in the year 2196, when Earth is at war with alien invaders known as the "Jovian Lizards." To combat this threat, an independent arms manufacturer called Nergal builds a space battleship, the ND-001 Nadesico, staffed by an unconventional crew of experts. The protagonist, Akito Tenkawa, is a young man with a mysterious past who would rather be a chef than a mecha pilot, but is forced into action. The anime is known for its humor, parodies of classic sci-fi anime, and exploration of the harsh realities of war. In addition to the TV series, there are also manga, OVA, film, and video game adaptations.
