Ranma ½ (らんま½), also known as Ranma Nibun-no-Ichi, is a Japanese manga series created by Rumiko Takahashi that was adapted into an anime. In 1989, the first anime series, Ranma ½, produced by Studio Deen, aired on Fuji TV but was canceled after 18 episodes due to low ratings. The series was later revived as Ranma ½ Nettōhen (らんま½熱闘編), airing on Fuji TV from October 1989 to September 1992, spanning 143 episodes. The anime tells the story of Ranma Saotome, who, during a training journey in China, falls into a cursed spring, causing him to transform into a girl when splashed with cold water and back into a boy with hot water. The story revolves around Ranma and his complex relationships with Akane Tendo and other characters, blending martial arts, comedy, and romance. The anime is known for its unique characters, humorous plotlines, and action sequences. Ranma ½ Nettōhen is the main anime portion of the series, covering the majority of the manga's plot and gaining widespread popularity for the franchise.
