Spriggan (Japanese: スプリガン, Hepburn: Supurigan), also known as Striker in some English releases, is a Japanese manga series written by Hiroshi Takashige and illustrated by Ryōji Minagawa. Set in the final years of the Cold War, the story revolves around the discovery of mysterious artifacts called out-of-place artifacts (OOPArts) around the world. These OOPArts, remnants of an ancient civilization, possess incredible power. To prevent their misuse, the ARCAM Corporation deploys its elite agents known as Spriggans, who engage in conflicts with various organizations and governments seeking to exploit these artifacts. The protagonist, Yu Ominae, is a powerful Spriggan who uses advanced technology to combat his enemies and protect the world from the misuse of ancient power. The manga was serialized in Shogakukan's Weekly Shōnen Sunday and Shōnen Sunday Super from 1989 to 1996, resulting in 11 tankōbon volumes. The series has been adapted into a 1998 anime film, a 2022 Netflix original net animation (ONA) series, and a 1999 PlayStation game called Spriggan: Lunar Verse. It's known for its intense action, conspiracy elements, and explorations of ancient mysteries.
