Tenchi the Movie: Tenchi Muyo in Love

Tenchi the Movie: Tenchi Muyo in Love is a 1996 anime film and the first of three movies in the Tenchi Muyo! franchise. Set after the events of the Tenchi Universe TV series, it diverges from the original OVAs, most notably by featuring Achika Masaki as Tenchi's mother instead of Kiyone Masaki. The story follows the Super A-Class criminal Kain who escapes from Galaxy Police Headquarters and travels back in time to kill Tenchi's mother, Achika, seeking revenge on the Jurai royal family. To prevent Kain from altering history, Tenchi and his friends travel back to 1970, posing as students and faculty at Achika's high school. While protecting her, they witness her meeting with Tenchi's father, Nobuyuki. Ultimately, Achika awakens her latent Jurai powers during a battle and aids in Kain's defeat. To ensure the timeline remains intact, Achika and Nobuyuki's memories are erased. The film blends science fiction, adventure, comedy, and romance elements, and explores themes of time travel and familial bonds.
