Tenchi the Movie: Tenchi Muyo in Love 2

Tenchi Forever!, also known as Tenchi Muyo in Love 2: Distant Memories, is a 1999 Japanese anime film directed by Hiroshi Negishi. It serves as the final story arc of the Tenchi Muyo! television series, known outside Japan as Tenchi Universe. The movie follows Tenchi as he vanishes into a forest after an argument with his friends, only to reappear six months later in an alternate reality created by Haruna, a woman who has taken him as her lover. This film shifts from the series' usual comedy and action towards a more downbeat sexual melodrama, exploring Katsuhito's past, Ryoko and Ayeka's feelings for Tenchi, and Tenchi's inner desires. Notably, it marked the last time Petrea Burchard voiced Ryoko in the English dubs until Ai Tenchi Muyo! in 2018. A manga titled 'Tenchi Muyo! In Love 2: Eternal Memory' was also released around the same time, written by Negishi and focusing on Sasami, implying a larger role for her behind the scenes of the film.
