Urusei Yatsura Movie 5: The Final Chapter

"Urusei Yatsura: The Final Chapter" (うる星やつら 完結篇) is the fifth theatrical anime film in the "Urusei Yatsura" series, released in 1988. This movie adapts the final arc of the manga and is considered the official ending of the anime series. The story revolves around the appearance of Lupa (Rupa), another of Lum's fiancés, who claims that Lum's great-grandfather made a deal with a traveling merchant who was entitled to marry the first girl in Lum's family. To prevent the Earth from being infested by giant space mushrooms, and to resolve their relationship, Lum and Ataru must replay their game of tag from the first episode. The only way Ataru can win is by saying "I love you" to Lum, which he has steadfastly refused to do. The film explores whether Ataru will set aside his pride and admit his true feelings to save the Earth and ultimately decide the future of Lum and Ataru. It is directed by Satoshi Dezaki, produced by Kitty Films, and primarily animated by Magic Bus.
