Riding Bean

Riding Bean (ライディング・ビーン) is a 1989 anime original video animation (OVA) that follows the exploits of freelance courier Bean Bandit and his sharpshooting partner, Rally Vincent. Set in Chicago, the story revolves around Bean being framed for the kidnapping of wealthy businessman's daughter, Chelsea Grimwood. This leads Bean and Rally on a high-octane chase to clear their names and expose the true culprits. The OVA is known for its intense car chases, gun battles, and retro 80's aesthetic. Although it was initially intended to be a series, only one episode was produced due to a dispute between the production company and the creator, Kenichi Sonoda. Nevertheless, Riding Bean laid the groundwork for the later series, Gunsmith Cats, where Rally Vincent became the main character, and Bean Bandit made recurring appearances. The OVA is a prime example of Kenichi Sonoda's unique style, blending humor, action, and crime elements, and has attracted many fans.
