Magic Knight Rayearth OVA

The Magic Knight Rayearth OVA, simply titled "Rayearth" (レイアース), is a three-part original video animation (OVA) based on the Magic Knight Rayearth manga series created by CLAMP. It was released in Japan a few years after the end of the manga and TV anime series. The story of the OVA is quite different from the original manga. While the characters remain the same, the relationships, locations, and events are radically changed. In this version, the main characters are already friends, who are suddenly drawn into a different situation than the original manga. Eagle Vision replaces Zagato as the main antagonist, tricking Zagato into committing suicide to create a false balance in Cephiro. He puts a spell on Princess Emeraude to convince her that Zagato is still alive so that the sorcerers of Cephiro can continue to exist on Earth as the two worlds are about to merge. Lantis is introduced in this version as an ally of the Magic Knights and is also the brother of Zagato. The Rune Gods are known as Deities, with Rayearth depicted as a lion named Lexus. The Magic Knights' full armor and weapons are also removed. In short, the OVA is a new interpretation of Magic Knight Rayearth, focused on different relationships and conflicts between the characters.
