A.D. Police Files (ADポリス) is a three-part original video animation (OVA) released in 1990, produced by Youmex and animated by Artmic and AIC. It serves as a prequel to the Bubblegum Crisis (1987-1991) series, set in 2027, and focuses on the early career of A.D. Police officer Leon McNichol, as he works alongside veteran officer Gina Marceau. The series is set in MegaTokyo, where the implementation of artificial humans called "Boomers" is causing issues. The A.D. Police are tasked with dealing with Boomer-related crimes. The series explores the themes of humanity and technology in a society where the lines between human and machine are blurring. Although five episodes were planned, only three were completed due to legal disputes between production companies. Despite this, A.D. Police Files is acclaimed for its dark storytelling and exploration of cyberpunk themes, considered a complementary work to the Bubblegum Crisis series.
