Tokyo Babylon (東京BABYLON) is a Japanese manga series created by CLAMP. The story follows Subaru Sumeragi, an onmyōji and head of the Sumeragi clan, and his twin sister Hokuto, as they resolve various supernatural incidents in Tokyo. Subaru, the 13th head of the Sumeragi family, possesses great spiritual power, and he has a complicated relationship with veterinarian Seishiro Sakurazuka. The manga is notable for its profound exploration of social issues such as suicide, school bullying, new religions, and elderly care. It was originally serialized in Shinshokan's South and Monthly Wings magazines from 1990 to 1993, and compiled into 7 volumes. Besides the manga, it has also been adapted into OVA animations, a live-action film, and a television anime adaptation that was announced but eventually cancelled. The series is widely known for its tragic ending and depiction of human nature. It also serves as an important prequel to CLAMP's later work, X, with connections in characters and plots.
