Gokudo-kun Man'yūki (ゴクドーくん漫遊記), also known as Gokudo the Adventurer, is a Japanese fantasy light novel series written by Usagi Nakamura and illustrated by Takeru Kirishima. It was first serialized in Kadokawa Shoten's Kadokawa Sneaker Bunko light novel magazine and later adapted into a manga in 1995 published by Dengeki Daioh magazine. An anime adaptation was produced by Trans Arts and aired on TV Tokyo from April 2, 1999 to September 24, 1999, with a total of 26 episodes. The story centers on an adventurer named Gokudo. Unlike most protagonists, he is an anti-hero who is willing to resort to violence to fulfill his agenda. He does not hesitate to abuse the needs of people, sell out his friends to save himself, run away from any dangers, or ditch others who helped him if he no longer finds them useful. His life changes when he finds a magical Genie named Djinn who grants him three wishes. Rather than benefitting from these wishes, they lead him to trouble, and he quickly tries to escape Djinn and everyone else he encounters. Other important characters include the Old Seer (or the Queen of the Magic World), who appears seemingly to make Gokudo's life more difficult; Rubette La Lette, a noble girl with a tomboy attitude who sees Gokudo as a rival; and Prince (called Niari by the Old Seer), a mage more skilled with women than Gokudo.
