Princess Comet, also known as Cosmic Baton Girl Comet-san, is a Japanese manga series created by Mitsuteru Yokoyama, which was later adapted into anime and live-action TV dramas. The story revolves around Princess Comet from the Harmonica Star country of the Triangle Nebula, who is sent to Earth to find the missing prince of the Tambourine Star country. On Earth, Princess Comet makes many friends and grows to love the planet and its life. Meanwhile, her rival, Princess Meteor, also arrives on Earth seeking to find and marry the prince before Comet can. Known for its magical girl elements and heartwarming story, the series is considered one of the earliest magical girl works in Japan. The manga was first serialized in Margaret magazine in 1967, and was adapted into multiple live-action TV dramas and a 43-episode anime series, titled Cosmic Baton Girl Princess Comet, which premiered in 2001. The anime was produced by Nippon Animation and directed by Mamoru Kanbe. The story is set in Kamakura, Kanagawa, Japan, following Princess Comet's adventures on Earth.
