Devil Hunter Yohko

Devil Hunter Yohko (Japanese: 魔物ハンター妖子, Mamono Hantā Yōko) is a Japanese original video animation (OVA) series created by Madhouse and produced by Toho. It was released from December 1, 1990, to July 1, 1995, and was distributed in North America by ADV Films as their first English release. The series follows Yohko Mano, a sixteen-year-old high school girl who possesses the ability to banish demons from the Earth. Yohko comes from a long line of demon hunters; her grandmother, Madoka, is the 107th Devil Hunter, and her mother, Sayoko, would have been the 108th, but a Devil Hunter must be a virgin to take on the power and responsibility. Sayoko became pregnant before learning the family's secret, so the duty fell to Yohko, Sayoko's daughter. Now, as the 108th Devil Hunter, Yohko must face off against demons while trying to live a normal life as a boy-crazy schoolgirl. Devil Hunter Yohko gained popularity for its unique character setting and exciting battle scenes and was adapted into manga and video games.
