Air Master (エアマスター) is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Yokusaru Shibata. It was serialized in Hakusensha's seinen manga magazine Young Animal from 1996 to 2006, with its chapters collected in 28 tankōbon volumes. The story focuses on Maki Aikawa, a former gymnast who transitions her skills into street fighting. Known as the 'Air Master' due to her unique aerial combat techniques, Maki fights in the back alleys of Tokyo, undefeated by both men and women. She finds true vitality only in battle. The manga depicts Maki's journey as she seeks her place in the world by continuously challenging powerful fighters. Furthermore, the work has a 27-episode anime television series adaptation produced by Toei Animation, which aired on Nippon Television in 2003. Despite its appeal, the anime faced distribution setbacks in North America due to DVD sales and quality issues, but it has since become available on streaming platforms.
