"Mobile Suit Victory Gundam" (機動戦士Vガンダム, Kidō Senshi Vikutorī Gandamu), also known as "Mobile Suit V Gundam", is a 1993 Japanese science fiction anime television series produced by Sunrise, consisting of 51 episodes and directed by Yoshiyuki Tomino, the creator of the Gundam franchise. It first aired on TV Asahi and its ANN stations, and is the fourth TV anime in the Gundam franchise and the final full series set in the Universal Century timeline. The story is set in UC 0153, where the Earth Federation is weakened and the space colony-based Zanscare Empire attacks Earth. The resistance group League Militaire fights back with the mass-produced Victory Gundam. The series is known for its high death rate and brutal depiction of war, and the protagonist, Uso Ewin, is one of the youngest in the Gundam franchise. Although the series aimed to attract younger audiences, its mature themes and high casualty rate attracted an older crowd. The anime has also spawned novels, manga, and games.
