絶愛ー1989ー

Zetsuai-1989- is a Japanese yaoi manga series created by Minami Ozaki, known for its melodramatic plot, "semi-insane characters," and controversial art style. The series follows the relationship between rock star Kōji Nanjō and soccer prodigy Takuto Izumi. The story begins in 1989 when Kōji, after a night of bar-hopping, passes out in the rain and is rescued by Takuto. Kōji develops an intense obsession with Takuto and eventually realizes that he is the person he fell in love with at first sight six years earlier. Kōji's obsession leads him to drag Takuto and his loved ones into his dangerous lifestyle and dysfunctional family. The work is considered a major yaoi masterpiece, praised for its intense love and complex characters. Despite an incomplete manga ending due to the author's illness, she later created a doujinshi to provide a proper final scene. The series has also spawned various adaptations, including OVAs, radio dramas, and music albums.
