Lesson XX

Lesson XX is a Japanese Original Video Animation (OVA) released in 1995, adapted from a short story by author Ei Oonagi published in a magazine. It's one of the earlier animated works featuring the Boys' Love (yaoi/BL) genre. The story centers around two boys at a co-ed boarding school: third-year student Shizuka Morifuji and his friend Ichitarou Sakura. Shizuka notices Sakura's striking beauty during a baseball game, leading to complex feelings between them. The narrative involves Shizuka jokingly expressing a desire to kiss Sakura, who readily agrees, insisting on kissing under the starry sky. Following this incident, Shizuka believes they should spend some time apart to sort out their thoughts and true feelings. Lesson XX is considered a classic of the yaoi/BL genre, blending love, misunderstanding, violence, and some angst, ultimately concluding with a sweet ending. The OVA runs for approximately 50 minutes and is well-regarded for its theme song and score, also spawning a CD drama and related music.
