"Violinist of Hameln" (Japanese: ハーメルンのバイオリン弾き, Hamerun no Baiorin Hiki) is a Japanese manga series created by Michiaki Watanabe. It revolves around a group of adventurers named Hamel, Flute, Raiel, Trom, and Sizer, who embark on a journey to the demon continent to avert a catastrophe. Hamel, armed with a magical violin, uses his music to persuade monstrous adversaries to atone for their misdeeds by killing themselves. The manga combines a serious story with an irreverent tone, with characters frequently shifting between heroic and pathetic. The manga also contains numerous unconventional running gags. The anime adaptation has a darker tone than the manga, and although it initially follows the manga's main plot, the two stories completely diverge by the anime's conclusion. The original manga was serialized in "Monthly Shonen Gangan" from 1991 to 2001, and 37 collected volumes were released. There are also derivative works such as an animated film, an animated TV series and video games.
