"Red Riding Hood Chacha" (Akazukin Chacha) is a Japanese shōjo manga series created by Min Ayahana. It was serialized in Shueisha's Ribon magazine from 1991 to 2000, and compiled into 13 tankōbon volumes. The story centers around Chacha, a clumsy apprentice magician who habitually wears a red hood. Chacha embarks on various adventures with her friends, including the werewolf boy Riiya and the magician apprentice Shiine, as they seek the truth about her family and defend their kingdom from enemies. The manga was adapted into an anime television series produced by Nihon Ad Systems and Studio Gallop, which aired on TV Tokyo from 1994 to 1995, spanning 74 episodes, followed by a three-episode OVA series from 1995 to 1996. The anime introduces differences from the manga, particularly with the magical princess transformation storyline in the first two seasons, which sees Chacha transform into a magical princess to battle evil forces. The series is noted for its light-hearted humor and the complex relationships between its characters. In addition to the anime, the series has also spawned stage musicals, video games, and other related media.
