Saiyuki Reload

Saiyuki Reload is a Japanese manga series by Kazuya Minekura, serving as a sequel to Saiyuki. It was serialized in Ichijinsha's Monthly Comic Zero Sum magazine from March 2002 to June 2009, with 10 tankōbon volumes published. The story is set in a world where humans and yokai coexist, called Shangri-La. Due to the resurrection experiment of the demon Gyumao, yokai begin attacking humans. To stop this calamity, the monk Genjo Sanzo and his companions Son Goku, Sha Gojyo, and Cho Hakkai embark on a journey to the west. On their journey, they face attacks from yokai, overcome internal conflicts, and try to solve the mystery of the yokai's changes. Saiyuki Reload was adapted into two anime television series, Saiyuki Reload and Saiyuki Reload Gunlock, which aired in Japan from 2003 to 2004. Additionally, there is an OVA series titled Saiyuki Reload: Burial, covering the "Burial" arc of the manga, and a remake anime series called Saiyuki Reload: Zeroin, which covers the "Even a Worm" arc. The manga series was licensed in North America by Tokyopop, but the publisher only released nine out of the ten volumes.
