下級生 (1999)

Kakyuusei (1999) is a Japanese TV anime adapted from the dating sim game of the same name. Created by Masato Hiruta, the anime tells the story of Tsuyoshi Yamaguchi, a third-year high school student, and Ai Minamizato, a second-year student. Unlike the 1998 OVA version, this TV anime features an original story, set after Tsuyoshi meets Ai who was trying to help a kitten that couldn't get down from a tree. The anime depicts their relationship in a refreshing style, incorporating elements of school life and youth. After its broadcast, the anime was well-received by many viewers and is considered a successful adaptation of the original game. The animation not only focuses on the feelings between the main characters but also presents the colorful stories of other supporting characters, presenting a youthful campus romance to the audience.
