Super Atragon

Super Atragon, also known as Shin Kaitei Gunkan, is a two-part original video animation (OVA) released in 1995. It serves as a revival of the classic tokusatsu film Atragon. Set during the end of World War II, the story features the Japanese construction of a massive submarine battleship called the Ra, powered by a mysterious energy source from a meteorite discovered in Manchuria. Simultaneously, the U.S. builds the Liberty battleship using the same energy, leading to their clash and destruction. Fifty years later, a subterranean race initiates an attack on humanity, and the only hope lies in the rebuilt Ra. The anime follows the crew of the Ra as they battle the subterranean threat and uncover the conspiracies behind it. The series is known for its unique mecha designs, intense action sequences, and engaging plot, blending elements of science fiction, adventure, and war, while exploring themes of technological misuse and humanity's survival.
