Tokyo Godfathers (Japanese: 東京ゴッドファーザーズ) is a 2003 Japanese animated film written and directed by Satoshi Kon. Set in Tokyo, the story follows three homeless individuals—Gin, a middle-aged alcoholic; Hana, a transgender woman; and Miyuki, a runaway teenage girl—who discover an abandoned baby girl on Christmas Eve. Determined to find the baby's parents, the trio embarks on an adventurous journey. Throughout their quest, they confront various challenges and begin to reflect on their past regrets. The film blends comedy, tragedy, and adventure, depicting Tokyo's street life with realism while exploring themes of family, faith, and redemption. Known for its unique art style and profound emotional core, it has garnered critical acclaim and is considered one of Kon's representative works. The movie was inspired by the 1948 American film '3 Godfathers'.
