"Judge" (闇の司法官ジャッジ, Yami no Shihoukan Judge) is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Fujihiko Hosono, originally serialized in Futabasha's Action Brother and Comic Action Character magazines. The story centers around Hoichiro Ohma, an ordinary office worker who, on the surface, appears to be a quiet and unassuming individual. However, he is secretly the "Judge of Darkness," who punishes criminals who have escaped legal justice. When someone is murdered, commits suicide with a curse, or when death needs to be judged, he appears, following the Laws of Darkness, using a book made of human skin and an unusual parrot to deliver judgment on unpunished criminals. The manga was adapted into an original video animation (OVA) of the same name in 1991. The story follows Ohma as he uncovers and punishes those responsible for the death of his colleague. The series blends elements of the supernatural, horror, and crime, exploring themes of cause and effect while depicting the protagonist’s struggle between his ordinary and dark identities. Reviews have been mixed, with some praising its engaging story and others criticizing its convoluted plot. Despite this, the series has garnered a following for its unique concept and revenge theme.
