Seraphim Call is a Japanese anime series produced by Sunrise that premiered in 1999. It is known for its avant-garde style, differing from most serialized anime of the time by using an anthology format where each story is independent. The series incorporates experimental narrative techniques, such as a surprise ending at the beginning of one story, an episode narrated entirely from a plush toy's perspective, an episode largely a parody of Thunderbirds, and two nearly identical episodes from individual twin perspectives. These innovative plot structures are often subtle, requiring multiple viewings to notice the details. The story is set in 2010 in the futuristic city of Neo-Acropolis, an artificial island in Japan, and follows 11 girls each facing their own dilemmas. Each episode has a different ending theme song performed by the voice actress of the main character, with the final episode's ending theme being 'I miss you' written and performed by ancy.
