Transformers: Energon, known in Japan as Transformers: Super Link (トランスフォーマー スーパーリンク), is a Japanese anime series co-produced by Hasbro and Takara, which premiered in 2004. It is a direct sequel to Transformers: Armada, set ten years after the events of Armada. The series is the second part of the "Unicron Trilogy" and introduced cel-shaded computer-generated animation, blending CG with traditional hand-drawn animation. Energon follows the Autobots and Decepticons as they battle for control of Energon, and introduces new villains like Alpha Q and his Terrorcons. The series focuses on the Autobots' combining abilities, Decepticons' power-up forms, and the use of Energon weapons. The plot revolves around exploring cosmic threats, the return of Unicron, and leading to a final battle. Energon has faced some criticism regarding its storyline, character development, and animation quality.
