Ambassador Magma (マグマ大使, Maguma Taishi) is the title and protagonist of a manga and tokusatsu TV series created by Osamu Tezuka. The TV series, produced by P Productions, aired on Fuji TV from July 4, 1966, to June 26, 1967, lasting a total of 52 episodes. It is the first color tokusatsu TV series in Japan, beating Tsuburaya Productions' Ultraman to the air by six days. The show later aired in the US, dubbed in English by Krantz Films, as The Space Giants.
The story revolves around the alien invader Goa who plots to conquer Earth. He first warns the Murakami family (father Atsushi, mother Tomoko, and son Mamoru) of their impending invasion, demonstrating his powers by transporting them to a prehistoric jungle and destroying a Giant Dinosaur. When the Murakami family refuses to surrender, hope arrives in the form of Ambassador Magma, an armored, golden giant with long hair and antennae. Magma and his human-sized wife, Mol, both created by the wizard Earth who lives deep beneath the Earth, are sent to defend Earth against Goa. They befriend Atsushi and Mamoru; the latter's wish for Magma to have a child leads Earth to create Gam, a duplicate of Mamoru. Mamoru is given a whistle to summon Gam (one blow), Mol (two blows), and Magma (three blows) in times of crisis. When Goa unleashes monsters, Magma, Mol, and Gam come to the rescue.
