Lupin the 3rd Part III (Japanese: ルパン三世 PARTIII) is the third animated television series based on the Lupin III manga by Monkey Punch. It was produced by TMS Entertainment and broadcast on Yomiuri Television from March 3, 1984, to December 25, 1985. The series is also known as the "Pink Jacket series," named after the color of Lupin's jacket. During its run, the film The Legend of the Gold of Babylon was produced with the same staff. It is the first series not to have a typed title card. The series was initially only available in Japan and Italy on DVD, with Blu-ray releases in Japan. It was also aired in Spain. In the US, the entire series is currently available for streaming on Crunchyroll and received a Blu-ray box set in 2021. The series underwent several character design changes, initially aiming for a style closer to the original manga before shifting towards a more cartoonish approach to streamline production. The series comprises 50 episodes, divided into two seasons of 25 episodes each. The diverse production teams and experimentation with three different character designs for Lupin led to significant visual inconsistencies between episodes, and even within the same episode. The Italian dub was originally censored, with some episodes heavily edited, causing plot inconsistencies. However, a new uncut Italian dub was released in 2021 on Amazon Prime.
