DearS

DearS (ディアーズ) is a Japanese manga series created by Peach-Pit, serialized in Dengeki Comic Gao! magazine from 2002 to 2005. The story revolves around 150 aliens who crash-landed in Tokyo Bay a year prior and are nicknamed "DearS," meaning "Dear Friends." These aliens, while possessing striking appearances and high intelligence, are actually a slave race. The protagonist, high school student Takeya Ikuhara, encounters a DearS named Ren and becomes her master. Ren is a "Zero Number" DearS, considered defective and thus pursued by other DearS. The narrative explores the relationship between Takeya and Ren, and the integration of DearS into human society. Combining elements of science fiction, romantic comedy, and school life, the series examines themes of slavery, interpersonal relationships, and self-identity. In addition to the manga, DearS has been adapted into an anime and a PlayStation 2 game.
