"Burn Up!" is a Japanese anime original video animation (OVA) released in 1991, which tells the story of a special police team called "Team Warrior," who are often assigned special tasks. This anime later spawned several sequels and remakes, including the 1996 OVA "Burn Up W," the 1997 television anime "Burn Up Excess," and the 2004 remake "Burn Up Scramble." "Burn Up!" follows the police officers Maki, Reimi, and Yuka, who initially work traffic patrol and long for more exciting police work. During a kidnapping pursuit, they become entangled in a white slavery organization run by politically connected businessman Samuel McCoy. When Yuka is kidnapped, Maki and Reimi decide to take matters into their own hands, stealing equipment from the police armory, including a police assault carrier, to rescue her and causing chaos in the process. "Burn Up!" is known for its action sequences, humorous elements, and its exploration of social issues. Despite its serious backdrop, the anime presents the adventures of the three female police officers in a lighthearted way. The anime was initially released in North America by AnimEigo with Japanese audio and English subtitles and was later dubbed in English by ADV Films and released on DVD. The series has gained popularity for its character designs and action style.
