"KochiKame: The Movie" is an animated film adaptation of Osamu Akimoto's manga series, "Kochira Katsushika-ku Kameari Kōen Mae Hashutsujo." There are two theatrical films in the series. The first one, released on December 23, 1999, directed by Shinji Takamatsu, follows Kankichi Ryotsu, a police officer at the Kameari Park Police Station, as he collaborates with FBI bomb disposal expert Lisa Hoshino to stop a mysterious bomber called "Benten Mask" who threatens the city. The film blends comedy, action, and human drama, showcasing Ryotsu's typical boisterous yet righteous nature, and the daily lives of the downtown residents. The second film, "KochiKame: The Movie 2: UFO Shurai! Tornado Daisakusen!!", released in 2003, revolves around Ryotsu's childhood friend's daughter and UFOs. The film series retains the humor of the original manga, adding cinematic visual effects. The production team includes the original anime cast members like voice actor LaSalle Ishii, further enhancing its appeal.
