"Saint Seiya: Evil Goddess Eris" is the first animated theatrical film in the "Saint Seiya" franchise, released in 1987. The story takes place after Seiya and his companions have defeated the Twelve Gold Saints in Sanctuary. Seiya, Hyoga, and Shun visit the Star Children Academy, where they meet Eri, an employee of the orphanage. Eri develops feelings for Hyoga, and one night, while stargazing, a shooting star falls. When Eri makes a wish, it is stolen by Eris, the Goddess of Discord, who uses it to revive herself. Eris possesses Eri's body and kidnaps Athena, planning to use the golden apple to drain Athena's energy and take over the world. To save Athena and the world, Seiya and the others set out for Eris's Sanctuary, where they battle the resurrected Ghost Saints. Ultimately, Seiya, aided by the spirit of Sagittarius Aiolos and his Gold Cloth, defeats Eris, rescuing Athena and Eri.
