"Mobile Suit Gundam 0083: The Afterglow of Zeon" is a 1992 anime compilation film that serves as a theatrical retelling of the OVA series "Mobile Suit Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory." Set three years after the One Year War, the story revolves around the Zeon remnants, the Delaz Fleet, who steal the Earth Federation's new nuclear-capable Gundam GP02A as part of their 'Operation Stardust'. Federation rookie pilot Kou Uraki pilots the GP01 to counter them. The film compresses the 13-episode OVA with new scenes and music, creating a more streamlined narrative. It focuses on the Zeon remnants' revenge plan and the resulting war, emphasizing the brutality of conflict and the complexities of human nature, and foreshadowing the events of "Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam." Besides featuring captivating mecha battles, the film explores the intricate relationship between war, politics, and personal destinies, making it a classic in the Gundam franchise. The movie's ending leads directly into the events of the 'Delaz Fleet Incident' which is part of the backdrop for the following "Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam" series.
