"Bomber Bikers of Shonan" (Shōnan Bakusōzoku) is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Satoshi Yoshida. It was serialized in Shōnen Gahōsha's Shōnen King magazine from 1982 to 1987, and compiled into 16 tankōbon volumes. The series is renowned for its vivid depiction of Japanese biker gang culture, telling the story of Yousuke Eguchi and his biker gang in the Shonan region. It blends action, comedy, and school life elements, showcasing the friendship, rebellion, and growth of young people. The manga was adapted into 12 original video animation (OVA) episodes by Toei Animation, released from 1986 to 1999, as well as a live-action film in 1987, directed by Daiki Yamada and starring Yosuke Eguchi and Yuji Oda. While highly popular in Japan, the series did not gain significant traction with American fans. In addition to the anime and film, a prequel manga series titled "Shonan Bakusozoku First Flag" began serialization in 2022. "Bomber Bikers of Shonan" has become a classic in Japanese manga history due to its distinctive style and deep portrayal of biker culture.
