"Goldfish Warning!" (Japanese: きんぎょ注意報!, Kingyo Chūihō!) is a Japanese shōjo manga series written and illustrated by Neko Nekobe, which ran in Nakayoshi. It was later adapted into a 54-episode anime television series produced by Toei Animation, which aired on TV Asahi from January 12, 1991, to February 29, 1992. Each episode of the anime contained two 11-minute stories, often unconnected with each other. A short film (OVA) was also released in 1992. After the end of the series, many of the anime's staff, including director Junichi Sato and music composer Takanori Arisawa, moved on to work on "Sailor Moon," with many references to "Goldfish Warning!" appearing in the first season of "Sailor Moon". The story follows Chitose Fujinomiya, a former heiress who is kicked out of her elite school and sent to a rural junior high school. Her only possession is a pink goldfish named Gyopi. After discovering her hidden inheritance, instead of returning to her old school, she buys the rural school and attempts to transform it into a refined academy, leading to comedic situations. The series has been broadcast in several countries and has an English dubbed version, as well as video game adaptations.
