Banner of the Stars III

Banner of the Stars III (Seikai no Senki III) is the third anime adaptation in the Banner of the Stars series, which is a sequel to Crest of the Stars, based on the science fiction novels by Hiroyuki Morioka. Released as an OVA in 2005, it consists of two episodes. The story takes place in Imperial Year 956, when the Star Forces launch “Operation Hunter” to suppress the remaining fleets of the divided “Human Unified Body.” The protagonists, Lafiel and Jinto, are caught in the battle on the penal planet Robnas II but manage to escape thanks to Admiral Spor’s desperate plan. Afterward, Jinto temporarily leaves the military and heads to the Hyde System with Lafiel to govern his homeland, which returned to Imperial territory due to "Operation Hunter." It continues the space war and political intrigue of its predecessors while deepening the relationship between Lafiel and Jinto, introducing new characters and factions, and laying the foundation for further development in the Star series. The anime is produced by SUNRISE Inc., and directed by Yasuchika Nagaoka.
