Bob in a Bottle

"Hakushon Daimaō" (Japanese: ハクション大魔王), also known as "The Genie Family", is a Japanese anime series produced by Tatsunoko Production in 1969. The story revolves around an elementary school student, Kan-chan, who discovers an old bottle in his attic. Whenever someone sneezes, the genie Hakushon Daimaō emerges from the bottle and must grant the sneezer's wish. Similarly, when someone yawns, Hakushon's daughter, Akubi, appears and must grant the yawner's wish. However, Hakushon often botches the wishes due to his clumsiness, while Akubi enjoys causing mischief by twisting the meanings of the wishes. In 1992, the anime was dubbed into English by Saban Entertainment as "Bob in a Bottle" and aired in various countries. In 2020, a sequel series, "Hakushon Daimaō 2020", was released, featuring Hakushon and Akubi's return to the human world. The franchise also has several spin-off anime series, such as "Yobarete Tobidete! Akubi-chan" and "Akubi Girl". Furthermore, there are manga, game, and live-action drama adaptations of the series.
