"Mega Man Battle Network: Program of Light and Darkness" (劇場版ロックマンエグゼ 光と闇の遺産, Gekijōban Rokkuman Eguze Hikari to Yami no Isan) is a Japanese anime film released in 2005, part of the "Mega Man Battle Network" franchise. The story is set during the events of the "Mega Man Battle Network Stream" anime series and follows Lan Hikari and his NetNavi, Mega Man, as they battle the malevolent Cyberlife, Nebula Gray. Nebula Gray aims to destroy both the real and digital worlds by using a system called 'Spectrum,' which merges them. To thwart this crisis, Mega Man must join forces with his rival Forte and fuse with him at a crucial moment to form a powerful new battle form. The film incorporates plot elements from the original games that were not adapted into the anime, alongside new original story developments. It features action-packed scenes and delves into the relationship between technology and humanity. It was released alongside "Duel Masters: Curse of the Death Phoenix" and topped the box office during its opening week.
