"OL Kaizo Koza" (Office Lady Reform Course) is a Japanese animated film released in 1990, adapted from a column of the same name. The film depicts various absurd behaviors and lifestyles of Japanese office ladies during the bubble economy through a series of short stories. With exaggerated humor, it satirizes the stereotypes of female office workers and the various strange phenomena in the workplace, such as washing hair at work, arriving early to leave early, and refusing to do chores to get promoted. Directed by Hajime Kamegaki, and featuring the voices of Pink Telephone (Yoshiko Shimizu and Miyako Takeuchi), the film portrays a microcosm of the society at the time, providing entertainment while also prompting reflection. Although some critics have noted the film’s condescending and discriminatory content towards women, it also serves as a record of certain aspects of that era. Its sister work is "Ojisan Kaizo Koza" (Old Man Reform Course), which uses a similar humorous approach to depict societal issues.
