Mushi-Shi is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Yuki Urushibara, serialized in Kodansha's Afternoon magazine from 1999 to 2008. Set in a fictional time period resembling a transition between the Edo and Meiji periods, the story revolves around "Mushi," primitive life forms that are neither plants nor animals, often causing supernatural phenomena. The protagonist, Ginko, is a "Mushi Master" who can see and interact with Mushi. He travels the land, assisting those affected by them. Each episode presents a self-contained story, featuring different Mushi and the people they impact. The series explores themes of nature and life with its unique atmosphere and art style. Besides the manga, Mushi-Shi has been adapted into an anime series, a live-action film, and video games, gaining popularity worldwide.
