Last Order: Final Fantasy VII is a 2005 Japanese original video animation (OVA) produced by Madhouse and released by Square Enix. It presents an alternate rendition of two flashback sequences from Final Fantasy VII, focusing on the Nibelheim Incident and Zack and Cloud's escape from the Shinra Electric Power Company. Though not an official installment in the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII, it is referenced in official guidebooks. The story is primarily narrated from the perspectives of Zack and Tseng, highlighting Tseng's feelings and position within Shinra. The OVA received criticism from fans for its differences from the original game's content, which led to the Crisis Core game avoiding the recreation of certain scenes. The soundtrack was released with the music of Before Crisis: Final Fantasy VII, with select tracks later remixed for Crisis Core. Last Order was initially released in Japan with a special edition of Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, and later as part of a limited collector's edition in North America. The OVA has a runtime of approximately 25 minutes and was directed by Morio Asaka, with Tetsuya Nomura serving as supervising director.
