Chirorin Mura Monogatari (チロリン村物語), also known as Chirorin Village Story, is a Japanese anime television series that aired on NHK Educational TV from April 6, 1992, to March 19, 1993, with a total of 170 episodes. The anime is an adaptation of the puppet shows Chirorin Mura to Kurumi no Ki (Chirorin Village and the Walnut Tree) which aired on NHK General TV, and O-i! Chirorin Mura da yo (Hi! It's Chirorin Village) which aired on Fuji TV. The story is set in a beautiful small town named Nutsberry Town, surrounded by shimmering lakes, lush forests, and green fields. This town cherishes traditional values. The main characters are Snappy the Onion, Wendy the Walnut, and Pee Wee the Peanut, a trio known as the "Kooky Kids," who enjoy playing mischievous games. Although they often get into trouble, their intentions are never malicious, and they are driven by their curiosity and the fun they find in their beautiful surroundings and their imagination. The series is characterized by having self-contained episodes, except for the final five episodes which form a continuous story. The anime's merchandise, such as video software and plush toys, sold well and was popular with viewers.
