Megazone 23 Part III is the third installment of the Megazone 23 series, released as an OVA in 1989. The story takes place several centuries after the events of Megazone 23 Parts I and II. It centers around Eiji Takanaka, a hacker living in the seemingly utopian city of Eden, which is controlled by the enigmatic Bishop Won Dai. After joining E=X, the organization that manages Eden's information network, Eiji quickly gets entangled in a network war and discovers a conspiracy known as Project Heaven, which plans to launch Eden into space to safeguard Earth from humanity. He teams up with a rebel member named Sion and attempts to awaken the legendary figure known as EVE. By the end of the story, it is revealed that Bishop Won Dai is actually Shogo Yahagi, the protagonist from Part I, and EVE must shut down and destroy the system's control, ultimately leading to the downfall of Eden. This part delves into themes of technology, consciousness, and the impact of power on society and individuals, while also highlighting characters and themes from previous parts.
