Tales of Yajikita College

Tales of Yajikita College (やじきた学園道中記, Yajikita Gakuen Dōchūki) is a manga series by Ryōko Shitō. The manga was initially serialized in Bonita magazine in 1982, before moving to Mystery Bonita in 2003 and is published by Akita Shoten, with a total of 29 tankōbon volumes. The story follows the adventures of two lively high school girls, Junko Yajima (Yaji) and Reiko Shinokita (Kita), as they transfer from school to school, fighting corruption, yakuza, ninjas, and various other wrongdoers. Both Yaji and Kita possess extraordinary hand-to-hand combat skills, which they continuously work to improve. Yaji's family runs a dojo, and Kita's father is a police captain. The characters are inspired by those in Tōkaidōchū Hizakurige, where characters often named Yaji and Kita find themselves in humorous situations. The manga has been adapted into two OVA anime series by J.C.Staff, released in 1989 and 1991. The manga is known for its strong female leads who use their fighting skills and sense of justice to help the weak, often resulting in them transferring schools after causing too much trouble.
